Support to H.E

Universities

Gordon has run many workshops tailored to students on a range of courses. These workshops provide additional skills for degree students who have planned career paths in teaching or other sports environments.

The training will involve demonstrating how to deliver different sports skills and an introduction to a range of coaching games and activities, as well as the opportunity for some shadowing of sessions and feedback. This will prepare students to deliver their own sessions. Training like this is often linked up to opportunities to deliver sessions run by the university or local sports development teams.

Colleges

KTG also delivers workshops in further education, providing training for students to deliver Multiskills to schools and early years. Sessions have a similar structure to those delivered in universities but are tailored more towards the sports courses on the curriculum.

Gordon worked with the Travel and Tourism students at Central College Nottingham for five week delivering Multi Skills training. The students really enjoyed the sessions and were able to adapt the activities to suit the needs of children they work with. The sessions have really helped the students open their eyes to the variety of activities that they can include in their coaching. Gordon was very organised and supported the students during the sessions.

Gordon has delivered multiskills sessions to two student groups all studying CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. These multiskills sessions included a wide variety of games and activities, all involving the development of skills and qualities that can be applied to a range of sports and physical activities that a child may subsequently choose to participate in. Gordon introduced the role of the adult in play, current developments of the understanding of play, international perspectives of play and the impact on practice in a range of settings, different learning styles and how to differentiate activities.

Gordon provided a high quality multiskills experience to my students in order for my students to take it back into their settings and provide a fantastic starting point for children on their journey towards lifelong participation in physical education.

My students now feel more confident in delivering a range of play and learning sessions to the children, they understand the importance of play and the relationship between play and learning. Gordon also taught them how to use the multiskills sessions as an observation, assessment and evaluation tool.

Through Gordon, my students learnt techniques of movement in a fun and practical way and how to integrate the key generic skills of agility, balance and coordination (ABCs) which underpin the majority of sports, into multiskills sessions. These students are now putting what they have been taught into practice.
