On Sunday 15 September, a highly successful Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event for table tennis coaches was hosted at Carlton Le Willows Academy in Nottingham by area managers Lauren Evans and Chris Bryden. The workshop was attended by local and regional coaches eager to enhance their skills and knowledge. Led by expert tutor Gordon Fearn, the workshop provided a comprehensive learning experience, focusing on key elements essential for modern coaching. The event attracted a wide range of coaches, from grassroots to more experienced individuals, who were all keen to advance their coaching techniques and approaches.
Congratulations to Izzy Bramhall and Cameron Leighton who came away with medals at the recent Racketlon World Championships.
Both are coached and supported with table tennis coaching from Gordon Fearn.
Izzy took a double gold as winner of the +55 singles event as well as the team gold and Cameron took bronze with the Great Britain Under 21 2 team.

Gordon has recently completed a little online lockdown learning...
The Coaching Others to Coach course examined how coaches learn, why it is important to build effective relationships, how to ask good questions and listen actively, how your status can influence the process of learning, and the skill of observing and providing feedback to coaches.
There was also a section on how coaches describe the qualities of an effective coach developer and how to can learn to improve the support provided to coaches.
Gordon said; "I would recommend this course to anybody who develops, educates and trains other people in the sport, exercise and physical activity sector. It's free, easy to enroll and only takes 24 hours of study time."
The course is relevant in supporting the learning and development of fitness instructors, officials, teaching assistants, sports leaders, activators and other volunteers.
The development of this course has been supported by a grant from Sport England and it contributes towards achieving the aims and aspirations of the Coaching Plan for England and The Professional Workforce Strategy for England .

Hello everyone,
I am excited to share some sports skill videos that Gordon has made. Gordon is keen for us to continue to develop our skills whilst we are staying safe at home and has created lots of fun challenges to try. You can get the whole family involved in the tasks for a fun PE session.
You will recognise some of the activities from your PE lessons at school. My favourite is Bop it – you really have to concentrate because Gordon likes to go fast!
Some of the activities use coloured cones which you may not have at home – don’t worry you can use any coloured objects found around your house.
Try all of the activities if you can and let me know which one is your favourite in the comments box below.
I’ll be adding more of Gordon’s videos so watch this space!
Stay safe and keep active BRW,
Mrs Cook
